Ex-Globus Bank Staff Alleges Verbal Abuse and Body Shaming by Manager in Warri Branch
A former Globus Bank marketer in Warri alleges her branch manager subjected her to sustained verbal abuse, body shaming and enforced resignation without due process. She claims criticism began over her personal items, dress style and complexion soon after she joined in October, despite strong performance that saw her transaction volume rise from ₦58 million to over ₦300 million in three months. She says queries and disciplinary actions followed her refusal to adopt what she describes as a “fake lifestyle culture,” including insults about her dark complexion and demands that she wear costly jewellery and designer clothes. The ex-staff member also recalls being criticised in front of colleagues and having her salary withheld after being asked to resign. The branch manager denies the allegations, insisting she welcomed and supported the new recruit and that the issues stemmed from repeated absences, unmet targets and interpersonal conflicts. She maintains that the resignation was advised by senior management after attempts to improve performance. Attempts to obtain comment from Globus Bank’s head office were unsuccessful, leaving broader questions about staff welfare and internal governance practices at the institution.
