Watch and Be Ready: Lessons from Matthew 24:34-44

Jesus reminds us that no one knows the hour of His return—not even the angels, only the Father. He compares it to the days of Noah, when people carried on with life unaware until the flood came. In pairs, one will be taken and the other left. We must stay alert and prepared, like a homeowner watching for a thief. Be ready at all times for the coming of the Son of Man. Amen.

It seems odd to compare our awareness to Noah's days when most people were oblivious until disaster struck.

Just curious, do you think Jesus' call to watch means daily vigilance or just prepping for a sudden end?

Is it fair to suggest that remaining vigilant is solely about fearing sudden removal rather than embracing hopeful readiness?

Maybe setting aside daily moments of reflection and prayer will help us maintain the alertness the passage encourages.
