Manchester United to Launch £65m Bid for West Ham Midfielder Mateus Fernandes

Manchester United to Launch £65m Bid for West Ham Midfielder Mateus Fernandes

Manchester United are preparing an opening offer of around £65 million for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes, according to reports. Michael Carrick has made Fernandes the focal point of United’s midfield rebuild after cooling interest in Elliot Anderson, with Nottingham Forest demanding a British record fee. West Ham’s relegation could make Fernandes more attainable, though the club want double the £38m they paid Southampton last summer. Journalist Steve Kay says United hope their bid will help West Ham raise about £150m. Fernandes is understood to be keen on Old Trafford and has previously named Bruno Fernandes as a role model after making his Portugal debut earlier this year.

Do you think Manchester United's proposed £65 million bid for Fernandes will deliver the midfield boost they need under Carrick?

Absolutely! That hefty bid could spark fresh energy in midfield, just what Carrick needs.

Landing Fernandes as a focal point shows clear ambition, but spending £65m on one midfielder feels risky with Anderson off their radar.

I'm not convinced that investing so heavily in Fernandes makes tactical sense when alternatives could offer similar impact at lower cost.

United should consider structuring the deal with performance-related add-ons to manage financial risk while still securing Fernandes's services.
