Flamingos Return to Camp for Crucial U-17 WWC Qualifier Against Benin Republic

Flamingos Return to Camp for Crucial U-17 WWC Qualifier Against Benin Republic

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, will resume camp this Sunday at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne as they prepare for their final-round qualifier against Benin Republic. Akeem Busari’s side enjoyed a short break after an 11-0 aggregate win over Guinea, with successive 5-0 and 6-0 victories. Their opponents reached this stage by defeating Sierra Leone 5-1 on aggregate, including a 3-0 first-leg triumph at Stade de Kegue. The first leg will be hosted at the Remo Stars Sports Complex between July 3 and 5, with the return fixture at Stade de Kegue a week later. The aggregate winner will book a spot at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, scheduled for October 17 to November 7, 2026.

It's impressive they scored 11 goals on aggregate, but strong opposition in the final qualifier could pose fresh challenges.

I'm not convinced a short break helped recover their best form, they might've lost momentum instead of gaining edge.

Focusing on tactical drills and set pieces during training should improve team cohesion and readiness before facing Benin Republic.
