ASERC Promises Steady Power Supply to Nnewi under New Reform Plans

ASERC Promises Steady Power Supply to Nnewi under New Reform Plans

The Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission has vowed to improve electricity supply in Nnewi through fresh regulations and infrastructure investments. During a recent public consultation, the Commission’s Managing Director outlined plans to partner with FirstPower Distribution Company to upgrade distribution networks. He highlighted ASERC’s role under the 2025 Electricity Law in licensing operators, setting tariffs, and enforcing safety standards across all 179 communities. Residents’ concerns over frequent outages were acknowledged, and the Commission stressed its commitment to fair, transparent regulation. Officials say new measures and consumer feedback will drive faster, safer, and more affordable power for the commercial hub.

Starting with transparent updates on project timelines could keep residents informed and hold the commission accountable for each stage of the power upgrade.
