Dalung Demands Answers on Deployment of 7,000 Forest Guards

Dalung Demands Answers on Deployment of 7,000 Forest Guards — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Former Sports Minister Solomon Dalung has challenged the federal government on the whereabouts of 7,000 forest guards who graduated in December 2025. He says these recruits were meant to reclaim Nigeria’s forests and stem criminal activities. National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu had explained that the Presidential Forest Guards Initiative, launched by President Tinubu in May 2025, tapped locals from each area to leverage terrain knowledge and community trust against banditry, kidnapping, and illegal logging. In a social media post on June 6, Dalung asked why terrorists still operate freely in forest zones and called for a status update on where the guards are serving and what progress they have made.

How can we hold the government accountable for the missing forest guards and ensure transparency in their deployment?

I agree, regular public updates on guard postings and an independent oversight committee could push for full transparency in their deployment.

It's odd that no official records or updates mention the status of those 7,000 graduates. Something seems overlooked.

Una hear say they graduated December 2025, yet no trace of them. Na government press release dey everywhere, action nowhere.

Perhaps community leaders and local NGOs should partner with forestry agencies to track these recruits and report any deployment issues promptly.
