Messi Back in Training as Scaloni Eyes Minutes in World Cup Warm-Ups

Messi Back in Training as Scaloni Eyes Minutes in World Cup Warm-Ups

Lionel Messi has resumed partial training with Argentina after recovering from a left hamstring strain sustained at Inter Miami. Coach Lionel Scaloni confirmed Messi is no longer fully separated from the squad and could see action soon. Scaloni said the captain is “much better” and may play a few minutes in upcoming friendlies. Argentina face Honduras in College Station, Texas, on Saturday and Iceland in Auburn, Alabama, on Tuesday as part of their World Cup build-up. The defending champions will open their 2026 World Cup campaign against Algeria on June 16 in Kansas City. Messi’s return to the pitch brings much-needed relief to both the coaching staff and fans.

With Messi back in training, do you think Scaloni will give him extended minutes in these warm-up games?

True, Messi's back so giving him decent minutes in friendlies should help him find match rhythm before the big show.

Scaloni said Messi is much better, but partial training doesn't guarantee full match sharpness right away.

It feels risky to rush him back just for warm-ups when the World Cup is still over a month away.

They should monitor his training load closely and gradually build his minutes to avoid any hamstring setbacks.
