Florida Governor Signs Bill to Rename Palm Beach Airport After Trump

Florida Governor Signs Bill to Rename Palm Beach Airport After Trump

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a bill to rename Palm Beach International Airport as President Donald J. Trump International Airport. The change takes effect July 1, pending Federal Aviation Administration approval. The legislation grants Palm Beach County the perpetual, unrestricted right to use the Trump name and related abbreviations at no cost. Trump frequently flies into the airport for weekends at his Mar-a-Lago resort. Eric Trump praised the move, thanking key legislators and the governor. Florida House Democratic Leader Fentrice Driskell condemned the decision, saying it will cost taxpayers $5 million that could have funded affordability measures.

This decision seems more symbolic than practical, especially since it still needs FAA approval and won't take effect until July 1.

If you're traveling through South Florida after July 1, check your tickets carefully in case the airport name switches to Trump International.
