FA Hands Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk a Four-Year Doping Ban

FA Hands Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk a Four-Year Doping Ban — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has received a four-year suspension from the English FA after anti-doping regulators ruled he tested positive for meldonium. The 25-year-old faced a provisional ban in December 2024 and formal charges in June 2025. He has been out of action since last appearing for Chelsea in November 2024. Mudryk’s camp has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, arguing he never knowingly took a banned substance. If upheld, the ban will keep him off the pitch until late 2028.

I think we may be underestimating his determination; four years is tough but not impossible.

It's surprising the FA imposed a four-year suspension for meldonium, that seems unusually harsh compared to other doping cases.

Clubs and players should double down on anti-doping education to avoid lengthy suspensions like this one.
