Why Every Christian Still Has the Power to Choose Holiness

Romans 12:1 calls us to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. Yet this does not override our free will. After salvation, each believer still decides whether to pursue holiness or fall back into sin. When someone accepts Christ, their past sins are forgiven and the Holy Spirit empowers them to live righteously. This empowerment guides and helps, but it never forces obedience. The ultimate decision to be holy remains with the individual. Some Christians use their free will deliberately to deny sin and walk in holiness. Others choose to conform to worldly patterns. Every choice carries consequences for our eternal destiny. Holiness leads to eternal life, while a refusal to pursue it risks a final separation from God. May every believer choose the path that leads to life.

Romans 12:1 talks about presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, but we still choose holiness daily. What helps you stay on track?

I agree. Setting daily reminders for prayer and reflection helps me consistently choose holiness, bit by bit.

It's curious that free will remains intact even after salvation, so people can fall back into sin despite the call to holiness.

I wonder if framing holiness as a choice overlooks how grace empowers believers beyond mere willpower.
