Finidi George Outlines Ambitious Goals as Rivers United Resume Early Training

Rivers United technical manager Finidi George has set out the team’s objectives for the 2026/27 season after an early return to pre-season at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex in Omagwa. The Port Harcourt side finished second in 2025/26 and will join champions Rangers International in representing Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League. After a month’s break, the squad regrouped to focus on fitness, tactical cohesion and integrating new signings. Finidi stressed that early preparation is vital to meet the demands of three competitions next season and called for complete dedication from the players. General Manager Okey Kpalukwu welcomed both returning and new squad members, urged focus and assured full support from club management and sponsors.

Those goals sound well judged. A top-two finish and a solid cup run feel achievable with their early training focus.
