Imama Amapakabo Eyes Continental Return as Abia Warriors Chase Strong Finish

Imama Amapakabo Eyes Continental Return as Abia Warriors Chase Strong Finish

Abia Warriors technical adviser Imama Amapakabo insists his side will battle for maximum points in the final seven games. The Umu Chineke occupy fifth place in the NPFL with 49 points and aim to secure a continental ticket for a second straight season. Imama downplayed the derby hype ahead of Sunday’s clash with Enyimba. “We have 21 points to play for, and we’ll fight for every single one,” he told the club’s media team. He warned that a single win won’t matter if they drop points later in the campaign. The former Nigeria U-23 coach stressed consistency is key. He says his focus lies on all remaining fixtures, not just one match. The Warriors will prepare as if every opponent poses a threat, regardless of current league standings.

Fifth place with 49 points isn't exactly a guarantee. Plenty of strong rivals still lurking behind them.

Insisting on maximum points sounds optimistic, but one bad injury or loss can derail even the best-laid plans.

Focusing on solid defense and consistent goal scoring could be the realistic way for Abia Warriors to secure that continental spot.
