My 2026 Organic Chicken Project: Raising 57 Birds With Fermented Feed

After researching and learning from experienced farmers, I have started an organic chicken-rearing project that will run through December 2026. My aim is to reduce reliance on conventional vaccines and drugs, apart from the Marek’s vaccine administered at the hatchery. I plan to improve feed conversion by fermenting conventional feed with lactobacillus and molasses. My target is to raise healthy, large chickens within three to four months using natural supplements and careful management. I received 51 crossbreed cockerels and six noilers from a hatchery on 14 August 2026. On arrival, I gave them a homemade mixture of coconut water, fermented cornmeal water, honey and lemon juice. Later, I gave them ginger and garlic water. We recorded one mortality after a chick fell into the drinking water. By day four, I plan to introduce tagiri extract blended with molasses. I have already procured the natural ingredients needed for the project and will share updates as the birds grow.
