Army Launches Free Health Camp in Birnin Yero to Strengthen Civil-Military Ties
The Nigerian Army’s Infantry Corps and Corps of Armour held a free medical outreach in Birnin Yero, Igabi LGA, Kaduna State. The exercise aims to deepen relations between soldiers at Jaji Military Cantonment and their neighbours. Residents received treatment for malaria, respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, hypertension and diabetes. Free tests included blood sugar, hepatitis B and C screening, and malaria parasite checks. Eye and ENT services were also offered, with glasses provided for those needing refractive correction. The Village Head of Birnin Yero praised the Army’s support beyond security duties, while beneficiaries said the outreach changed their view of soldiers. They noted the programme fostered trust and showed that military personnel are an active part of community life.
