‘I Knew I’d Make the Super Eagles from My NPFL Days’ – Nwaiwu

Chibuike Nwaiwu always believed he would don the Super Eagles jersey while playing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). He made his debut in Friday’s 2-1 friendly win over Iran in Antalya, Turkey, coming on early in the second half. Speaking after the match, Nwaiwu said he felt privileged to represent his country. He credited faith and hard work for fulfilling his dream and admitted he was so excited he almost missed his flight when his club confirmed the call-up. On facing Iran, who have qualified for the upcoming World Cup, he praised their quality. He and his teammates seized their chances to secure victory. Nwaiwu could earn a second cap against Jordan in Tuesday’s friendly.

Are you thinking his overall impact in the league or a specific NPFL match convinced the Eagles coaches?

I suppose his knack for big moments in tough NPFL matches must've convinced the coaches he was ready.

Confidence helps, but claiming belief alone got him selected overlooks hard work, scouting eyes, and training performance in the NPFL.

Clubs and players should focus on consistent NPFL performances to catch national team scouts' attention, just like Nwaiwu did.
