UNIZIK Elevates Mass Communication to Faculty, Appoints Prof. Adum as Acting Dean — 1 of 4
1 / 4

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has named Prof. Allen Nnanwuba Adum as the Acting Dean of the newly launched Faculty of Communication and Media Studies. The upgrade follows a National Universities Commission accreditation that split Mass Communication into four standalone departments: Journalism and Media Studies, Broadcasting, Advertising, and Development Communication. Students began in these programmes via the recent JAMB admissions and will sit second-semester exams in August. Prof. Adum thanked colleagues for their unity and credited God for the successful transition. He pledged an open-door administration built on consultation, transparency and inclusiveness. In related news, Prof. Chinwe Uzochukwu was elected Head of the Department of Mass Communication with 26 votes to 23. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor encouraged peace and mutual understanding as the new faculty takes shape.
