Why Must Ordinary Nigerians Suffer for Politicians’ Crimes?
So many Nigerians face extreme hardship under recent administrations. Inflation, subsidy removal, and poor policies have wiped out the middle class. Those earning less than 100 million naira a year can no longer maintain a decent standard of living. Politicians never share in these sacrifices. They travel on free fuel, install top‐tier solar systems, and shield their families from power outages. Meanwhile, citizens struggle to afford basic alternatives. Tax thresholds label 25 million naira earners as “executives,” yet that income barely covers safe housing in many cities. Ordinary workers bear the full burden while elites remain untouched. True reform must start with accountability. Recover stolen funds, cut the cost of governance, hold corrupt officials to account, and require leaders to use public services themselves. Until then, I will not sacrifice for a system I did not break.
