Older Generations vs Gen Z: Who Really Has It Easier?

I recently saw some tweets on social media from a mentor I respect. I believe earlier generations did not have it easy. Each generation faces unique challenges. Instead of making excuses, Gen Z should focus on humility, hard work, and seeking mentorship. Competition is fierce. Millions of young Nigerians enter the labour market each year while job creation lags. This makes opportunities scarce and the fight for jobs intense. Social media offers useful tools but can also distract. It sets unrealistic expectations and amplifies complaints. Still, we have clear advantages: digital tools, global reach, and new income streams through side hustles and innovation. Generation Alpha might one day think we had it easier. That cycle repeats. The real question is what we do now. Are we building skills, seeking guidance, creating value, and taking responsibility? Discipline, adaptability, and strategic effort remain crucial for progress. May God help us all, but we must also help ourselves by focusing on growth and accountability.

Gen Z should map specific skill gaps, seek mentors who navigated similar markets, and build networks before diving into competitive career paths.
