Thioune Warns Boniface’s Augsburg Spot Is Uncertain

Thioune Warns Boniface’s Augsburg Spot Is Uncertain

Werder Bremen head coach Daniel Thioune says Victor Boniface’s place in the squad for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with Augsburg remains up in the air. The Nigerian forward, on loan at Bremen, has battled a persistent knee injury that kept him out for months. He made the bench in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Stuttgart but did not feature. Thioune faces tough selection calls with Marco Friedl and Marco Grüll back to full fitness. “It was important for Victor to be back. It worked well last week,” he told the press. The coach noted that he has other strong, physical forwards in Salim Musah and Jovan Milosevic, so Boniface must prove his readiness to earn a spot.
