Olaiya Igwe Exposes Low Producer Returns Despite ‘Behind the Scenes’ Hitting N1bn

Nollywood veteran Ebun Oloyede, known as Olaiya Igwe or Ololade Mr Money, has pulled back the curtain on the real earnings of blockbuster films. He revealed that Funke Akindele’s Behind the Scenes grossed over one billion naira, but the producer received less than half after cinemas and distributors took their share. Olaiya Igwe also cited Femi Adebayo’s Jagun Jagun, explaining that millions spent on production yielded no real profit once exhibitors deducted their fees. He warns this remains an industry-wide challenge for producers despite headline-making box office figures.
