Plateau United Target 2026/27 NPFL Title and CAF Champions League Return

Plateau United chairman Alhassan Yakmut says the club has been mandated by Governor Caleb Mutfwang to win the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League title and return to continental football. Yakmut spoke after the NPFL Annual General Meeting in Ibadan, saying the club is using lessons from the 2025/26 season to strengthen its preparations. Technical adviser Gbenga Ogunbote has extended his contract and is expected to lead recruitment for the new campaign. Plateau United last played in a CAF club competition in 2022/23. They were eliminated by Esperance of Tunisia in the CAF Champions League preliminary round before losing to Al-Akhdar of Libya in the Confederation Cup.
