Court Ruling Rocks Rivers APC: Reinstated Faction Nullifies Primaries, Sacks Chinda and Wike’s Allies
The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has been thrown into turmoil after the faction led by Emeka Beke secured a Court of Appeal ruling that voided all party congresses and primaries held between December 2024 and May 2026. This decision annuls nominations, communications, and certificates of return issued under the deposed leadership. The reinstated executives have instructed the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission to withdraw certificates issued to candidates from the previous faction and reissue them to nominees presented by Beke’s team. They are also calling on the party’s national body to review all primaries and records to prevent a repeat of similar disputes. At the heart of the conflict are conflicting court orders and questions over the legitimacy of former party executives. The reinstated faction insists only a higher court can overturn the appeal court’s ruling and warns that any actions by the ousted executives are illegal, null, and void.
