FRSC Cracks Down on Overloading, Arrests 18 on Kaduna–Abuja Highway
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kaduna Sector and the State Judiciary launched a special operation on the Kaduna–Abuja highway to curb overloading and reduce fatalities. Sector Commander Andrew Longkam explained that vehicles meant for four passengers sometimes carry nine, and seven-seaters can carry up to 15, greatly increasing crash risks. During the exercise, 18 offenders were arrested. Ten were fined for overloading, while others faced tyre and number-plate violations. The FRSC pledged to sustain enforcement on critical traffic offences. It will also run road-safety awareness campaigns in motor parks, mosques, and churches. Motorists were urged to avoid overloading, speeding, and drunk driving, ensure vehicles are roadworthy, and plan journeys carefully.
