Aghoro Youths Back Cleopas After NDC Primaries, Reject Claims of Imposition
There is a growing crisis of confidence in Aghoro Community, Bayelsa State, over the recent NDC House of Assembly primaries. Local youths say Hon. Johnbull Cleopas clearly won the direct primary, defeating his main rival Alex Jenakumo with 245 votes. They accuse former First Lady Rachael Dickson of attempting to impose her younger cousin on the constituency after seeing Cleopas’ overwhelming support. At a stakeholders’ meeting on May 27, Cleopas led with 12 votes to Jenakumo’s 7 before the direct primary was conducted. Community leaders warn that any attempt to override the will of the people will drive Aghoro residents away from the party. They vow to resist partial decisions and insist on fairness in the nomination process.
