Simon, Adams Shine as Super Eagles Edge Iran 2-1 in Antalya Friendly

Simon, Adams Shine as Super Eagles Edge Iran 2-1 in Antalya Friendly

Moses Simon put Nigeria ahead in the 6th minute after racing onto Samuel Chukwueze’s pass and firing a low shot past the keeper. Akor Adams doubled the lead early in the second half, slotting home from Ademola Lookman’s defence-splitting pass. Iran pulled one back in the 67th minute through Taremi, but the Super Eagles held on for a 2-1 victory. Coach Eric Chelle handed debuts to Emmanuel Fernandez and Chibuike Nwaiwu, while Maduka Okoye and the backline delivered solid performances. This result makes it two wins and a draw in three meetings with Iran. Nigeria’s next friendly is against Jordan in Antalya on Tuesday, March 31.

They should prioritise defensive organisation after scoring early to maintain control and avoid unnecessary pressure late on.
