Katsina State to Host Mass Wedding for 1,000 Couples
Katsina State Government has finalised plans for its first mass wedding event. It will formally wed 1,000 couples drawn from all 34 local government areas. The initiative aims to help widows, orphans and vulnerable individuals who cannot afford marriage fees. Director General of the Hisbah Board, Malam Abu-Ammar, said participants will receive empowerment initiatives and welfare packages to start their married lives. Commissioner for Women Affairs Aisha Malumfashi, represented by PRO Aminatu Mashi, confirmed that all couples passed medical screening and compatibility checks. The ceremony is scheduled for April 25, 2026. It is organised in partnership with a marital support foundation, the Hisbah Board and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs as part of Katsina State’s social welfare efforts.
