How I Fed Four People with Just ₦3,100 and Proved My Sister Wrong

How I Fed Four People with Just ₦3,100 and Proved My Sister Wrong — 1 of 12
1 / 12

My sister complained her husband gave her only ₦5,000 for a family meal of four. She felt it wouldn’t stretch far enough, so I challenged her to let me manage the budget. I took ₦3,100 to the market and bought pepper, red oil, melon, Maggi, sachet tomato, dried tilapia, okpehi, garri, spaghetti, onions, and other basics. I returned home and made egusi soup with eba alongside spaghetti. I packed the extra soup for her kids and showed her how smart shopping and improvisation can turn a small amount into a hearty meal. You don’t always need beef, chicken, or expensive fish to feed a family.

Consider buying vegetables in bulk and freezing portions for future meals to balance freshness, cost, and convenience on a tight budget.
