Anchored in Hope: God’s Unchanging Promise

Hebrews 6:13-20 shows how God confirmed His promise to Abraham by swearing an oath. He pledged to bless Abraham and multiply his descendants. After waiting in faith, Abraham received what was promised. This divine oath reveals God’s unchanging purpose. His guarantee offers us full assurance. Through these two unbreakable truths—His promise and His oath—we gain hope as a firm anchor for the soul. That hope carries us into the true sanctuary behind the curtain. Jesus has entered there on our behalf and serves as our eternal high priest.

It's interesting that the text emphasizes God's oath, yet we rarely question why oaths were necessary for divine promises.

Maybe the oath is less about God's need and more about helping us grasp the weight of His promise.

I'm not convinced that a biblical oath adds anything new to faith trust; faith alone should suffice for believers.

We can use Abraham's patience as a model, cultivating steady hope through daily prayer while we await our own promises.
