Morocco FA Demands Suspension of WAFCON Referee After Nigeria Final

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has filed a petition with CAF seeking the suspension of Namibian referee Antsino Twanyanyukwa. The call follows Morocco’s 3-2 loss to Nigeria in the WAFCON 2025 final. Morocco submitted a video dossier alleging key refereeing errors. They objected to the reversal of an 82nd-minute penalty for Morocco and called Nigeria’s awarded spot-kick “soft.” FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa is said to have confronted Twanyanyukwa during the medal ceremony. In response, CAF sacked its Director of Refereeing but has not confirmed any measures against the referee herself. Fans and observers across Africa are watching closely for CAF’s next move.

Do you think CAF should investigate the Moroccan federation's referee allegations more thoroughly before any suspension is considered?

I agree, CAF should properly verify those claims first so dem no go rush into suspension wahala.

I agree, it makes sense to dig deeper before suspending anyone over these referee claims.

It's interesting Morocco lost 3-2 yet quickly turned to sanctions instead of focusing on tactical adjustments and training improvements.

Accusing a referee so soon smacks of sour grapes rather than genuine concern for fair play in the final match.

Both federations should document each incident clearly and agree on a neutral review panel to avoid endless disputes over officiating.
