From Neglect to Renewal: Prof Onuchukwu’s Transformative Leadership at IAUE

From Neglect to Renewal: Prof Onuchukwu’s Transformative Leadership at IAUE — 1 of 3
1 / 3

“Roses out of thorns” perfectly describes Professor Okechukwu Onuchukwu’s tenure at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education. Under his acting VC role, IAUE secured accreditation for more than 22 programmes and raised academic standards across all campuses. He spearheaded the revival of the Ndele campus in Emohua, restoring lecture halls, hostels, a steady water supply and reliable power for faculties such as Agriculture and Mechatronics. At the Iwofe main campus, newly installed solar systems now provide uninterrupted electricity to student hostels, greatly improving campus life. In a show of personal dedication, he channelled funds raised in his honour into establishing a Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies. Despite limited traditional funding, his administration tapped internal revenue and forged strategic partnerships to drive sustainable growth and renewal.
