Thorpe Park Rides Fail in Record Bank Holiday Heat, Stranding Guests Mid-Air
Two major rides at Thorpe Park broke down simultaneously during the hottest Bank Holiday Monday on record in southern England. Riders on the new Hyperia coaster were left suspended at around 200 feet for 30 minutes as temperatures hit 33°C. The train eventually restarted, allowing everyone to return safely to the station. A second attraction also stopped that afternoon, leaving more visitors stranded in the peak heat. No injuries were reported and all guests were brought down without harm. Some park-goers joked online that they deserved complimentary fast passes after enduring the ordeal on one of the busiest days of the year.
