Flamengo Accuses Almería of €1.8m Unpaid Transfer Fee, Urges Ronaldo to Intervene

Flamengo Accuses Almería of €1.8m Unpaid Transfer Fee, Urges Ronaldo to Intervene — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Flamengo has accused UD Almería of failing to pay the transfer fee for striker Lázaro Vinícius since August 2022. The Rio de Janeiro club says the Spanish side has been in default for nearly 600 days. The outstanding debt now totals around €1.8 million. Flamengo also highlighted Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent acquisition of a 25% stake in the Spanish club. They urged the new co-owner to help resolve the dispute and meet the original financial obligations. According to Flamengo, FIFA has already recognised the debt. The Brazilian club plans to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, confident that CAS will enforce the agreement and secure payment.

Flamengo's claim that Almería owes €1.8 million after almost 600 days shows how messy European transfer deadlines can become.

Calling on Ronaldo feels like blaming a superstar who has no direct role in overseeing club finances.

Flamengo should file an official complaint with FIFA's dispute chamber and consider withholding player registrations until the fee is fully paid.
