Takeru Segawa Seeks Flawless Farewell in High-Stakes Rematch

Takeru Segawa Seeks Flawless Farewell in High-Stakes Rematch

Japanese kickboxing icon Takeru Segawa will make his final stand at ONE Samurai 1 in Tokyo on April 29. He faces interim flyweight champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a high-stakes rematch that could define his career. Segawa has thought about retirement for years, carefully weighing his physical condition against his competitive drive. “The moment when I thought this would truly be the last time I could fight at my strongest condition was about a year ago,” he revealed. His first meeting with Rodtang ended in just 80 seconds. That early loss still fuels him. “I’ve always wanted that kind of fight with Rodtang, so I believed I must fight him one more time,” Segawa explained. He maintains demanding training sessions despite knowing this is his last bout. His aim is simple: give everything he has and retire without any regrets.
