Freddie Simpson was born Fredda Marie Simpson in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1963. She excelled in softball and volleyball before graduating from the University of Kentucky. She began her career as a model and made her film debut in Thunderboat Row (1989). Simpson gained wider recognition for her role as Ellen Sue Gotlander in the sports comedy A League of Their Own (1992) and reprised the part in a 1993 TV miniseries. Her other credits include Skinner (1991), Tracey Takes On… (1996) and the short film Blue (2002). After the birth of her daughter, she stepped away from acting.
