Landmark Aviation Safety Workshop Tackles Evidence Integrity and Pilot Mental Health in Lagos
Over 200 aviation experts convened at the Lagos Marriott Hotel for a full-day workshop themed “Integrity in Evidence, Clarity in Skies.” The event opened with remarks from NSIB Director General Captain Alex Badeh Jr., who committed to driving the workshop’s recommendations through regulatory and inter-agency channels. Presentations included a paper from the NCAA Director General on strengthening safety oversight, followed by keynote insights from a former NTSB Managing Director and the Chair of an international peer support coalition. They shared lessons from global investigations and made a strong case for structured mental health programmes for pilots and engineers. Lively panel sessions brought together regulators, airline operators, military aviators, medical experts and industry veterans to discuss evidence handling, CVR/FDR preservation and wellness frameworks. The NSIB will publish a formal proceedings report to guide future safety and support initiatives.
