APC Chieftain Urges End to 27-Year Reps Monopoly, Calls for Fair Rotation in Bomadi/Patani
Chief Franklin Edonkumoh, an APC leader in Bomadi Local Government Area, has written to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori urging him to stop Nicholas Mutu’s bid for a seventh term in the House of Representatives. Edonkumoh highlighted a recent peaceful protest in Patani demanding the opportunity for their community to produce the next federal representative. He argued that democracy thrives on equity, inclusion and rotation of leadership. He noted that Mutu has represented Bomadi/Patani since 1999 with limited visible legislative achievements or constituency projects. Edonkumoh called for open competition and support for a candidate from Patani in the 2027 elections. Warning that prolonged tenure without accountability can weaken democratic trust and fuel political tensions, he urged the state government to champion a fair and transparent process that reinforces public confidence.
