The Village Head of Ekpri Nsukara Offot, Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo, has congratulated Prof. Chris Ekong on his appointment as substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo. In a statement, he described the Governing Council’s decision as well-deserved given Ekong’s academic credentials, leadership experience and dedication to the university’s mission. He also pledged the host community’s continued goodwill and solidarity. Eteidung Asikpo expressed confidence that Ekong’s tenure will bring innovation, infrastructural development and global recognition to UNIUYO. Prof. Chris Ekong, an accomplished economist and indigene of Uyo LGA, has held roles as Special Adviser to the Bureau of Youth and Culture, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at UNIUYO.
