El-Rufai Warns of Coordinated Plot to Tarnish His Reputation

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai says there is a fresh scheme to implicate him in criminal activity and keep him detained without cause. He recalled being arrested on arrival from Cairo on February 12, detained by the EFCC on February 16 and then transferred to ICPC custody on February 18. El-Rufai linked recent allegations to an attack on a key prosecution witness in his ongoing trial, calling the reports “false imputations” aimed at smearing him and delaying his bail. He has instructed his legal team to pursue defamation proceedings and urged authorities to uphold his right to due process.
