WHO and UNICEF Hail Soludo’s Leadership in Anambra Healthcare Reforms
The World Health Organization’s South East Coordinator, Dr. Chukwumuanya Uzoegbu, praised the Anambra State government for its drive to improve primary healthcare at the 2026 Primary Healthcare Leadership Fund awards in Awka. He noted that Anambra led all states nationwide in winning the PHC leadership award, highlighting Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to grassroots health services. Dr. Uzoegbu also commended Mrs. Nonye Soludo for her support through her NGO, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo. UNICEF’s Enugu representative, Mrs. Gloria Ogbonna, applauded the governor’s health achievements and predicted more responsive services for residents. Health Commissioner Dr. Afam Obidike credited massive investments in PHC centres for the state’s top performance in the South East. The awards ceremony recognized outstanding health workers, communities, and local councils with trophies and cash prizes, affirming the importance of leadership and accountability in strengthening local healthcare delivery.
