Running the Race of Faith: Strength for the Midway Stretch
The Christian life is likened to a marathon, calling us to run with endurance. Hebrews 12:1–2 urges us to “lay aside every weight” and “run with endurance the race set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” Paul reminds us in Philippians 3:13–14 to forget what lies behind and strain forward toward the goal. Most of us find ourselves not at the start or finish but in the demanding middle distance of this race. It is in that “midst of the years” that we often grow weary and lose focus. Habakkuk’s prayer for revival speaks to our need for fresh strength, renewed perspective, and the encouragement that comes from those who have persevered before us. Take up the baton passed down through generations. Keep your eyes on the prize, refocus your heart, and press on—run, and keep running!
