Unity Cup Victory Restores Faith in Super Eagles, Says Iroha

Unity Cup Victory Restores Faith in Super Eagles, Says Iroha

Former Nigeria defender Ben Iroha has praised the Super Eagles after their emphatic 3-0 win over Jamaica to retain the 2026 Unity Cup. He says the convincing performance has reinstated Nigerians’ confidence in the national team. Alhassan Yusuf opened the scoring in the third minute, Terem Moffi added a second in the 59th minute, and Yusuf wrapped up the victory with a stoppage-time strike. This result extended Nigeria’s strong record against Jamaica, with three wins out of eight meetings. Iroha believes the team’s displays in two matches show a clear return to form. He is optimistic about the upcoming 2027 AFCON qualifiers but notes it is still early to make definitive predictions.

While the 3-0 scoreline looks impressive, Jamaica's squad remains comparatively inexperienced against Africa's stronger teams.

I no think one good match go ever cure the deeper issues affecting coaching decisions and player development.
