Super Falcons Defender Plumptre Extends Al-Ittihad Contract to 2028

Super Falcons Defender Plumptre Extends Al-Ittihad Contract to 2028

Ashleigh Plumptre has signed a two-year extension with Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al-Ittihad Ladies, keeping her at the Jeddah club until 2028. The 28-year-old joined on a free transfer from Leicester City in September 2023 and has since scored 15 goals and set up 19 more in 41 matches across all competitions. Plumptre is currently sidelined by a foot injury that has kept her out since March. She was left out of Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to focus on her recovery. She played a key role in the Super Falcons team that clinched a record tenth WAFCON title in 2024.

Locking in a defender for two more years feels premature when we haven't seen how she handles high-press systems in other leagues.

For clubs eyeing Saudi expansion, her contract extension shows Al-Ittihad values homegrown defensive talent and long-term squad stability.
