Ogun Government Takes Over NYSC Inspector’s Case, Refutes Speculation

The Ogun State Government has formally assumed prosecution of the case against Abass Olalekan, an NYSC Local Government Inspector in Abeokuta South. Officials say recent public commentary misrepresents the strength of the evidence and the reasons for bail. Attorney-General Oluwasina Ogungbade (SAN) clarified that bail was granted solely because the charges are bailable. He emphasized that this decision does not comment on the quality of the evidence. The AG’s office confirmed it received the case file from the State Police Command and will handle all further proceedings. Investigators allege that Mr. Olalekan was involved with the late Victoria Olapeju Ariyo, who was reportedly pregnant when she died after an alleged termination procedure. The government labeled claims about missing witnesses and insufficient evidence as false. It urged the public and media to avoid speculation and to let the judicial process take its course.

It's interesting that officials emphasize the strength of evidence and reasons for bail, suggesting earlier reports might have jumped to conclusions.

I'm not convinced the government takeover alone guarantees transparency; we need to see how the prosecution proceeds before praising any refutation.

Citizens should monitor court filings and official statements closely to hold all parties accountable as the case moves forward.
