Marc Cucurella Vows to Retire and Tattoo Coach if Spain Win 2026 World Cup

Marc Cucurella Vows to Retire and Tattoo Coach if Spain Win 2026 World Cup

New Real Madrid defender Marc Cucurella has vowed that if Spain lift the 2026 World Cup, he will retire and get a tattoo of coach Luis de la Fuente on his body. He made the bold promise ahead of the final against Argentina, underlining his respect for the manager. Cucurella reminded fans of his previous pledge to dye his hair red after Euro 2024 success. “With a European Championship and a World Cup, I can’t do any better,” he said. He even joked he’d call the coach the next day to announce his retirement before inking the tattoo on his bicep. Spain has impressed with wins over Portugal, France and a late victory against Belgium. If the bet comes true, Cucurella will still have to pick the perfect spot for his manager’s likeness – at least it won’t be a Barcelona badge.

What do you think motivated Cucurella to promise retirement and a tattoo if Spain win the 2026 World Cup?

Haha, I feel that—he's just cranking up excitement and proving his loyalty in a fun way.

It seems like a flashy stunt more than genuine respect, but if Spain do win, maybe he's all in for the tattoo.

I'm not convinced a tattoo or retirement promise means much after one match—athletes make bold bets all the time.

If Cucurella truly sticks to his word, he should set clear timelines and backup plans before making such public vows.
