Jodie Foster at 63: From Child Star to Award-Winning Filmmaker

Jodie Foster is an American actress and filmmaker born in Los Angeles in 1962. She began modeling and acting as a young child, rising to fame with roles in Taxi Driver and Disney’s Freaky Friday. Over her career, she has earned two Academy Awards, three BAFTAs, four Golden Globes, a Primetime Emmy, and the Honorary Palme d’Or. She studied at the Lycée Français de Los Angeles, where she graduated as valedictorian of the French division. Foster went on to Yale University, majoring in African-American literature and graduating magna cum laude. Her fluency in French has allowed her to act in and dub French-language films. Off-screen, Foster has two sons from her long partnership with producer Cydney Bernard. In 2014, she married photographer Alexandra Hedison. She has spoken publicly about her personal life during major industry events, earning widespread respect for her privacy and honesty. Today, Foster continues to direct and produce acclaimed films. Her most recent acting work earned her another Academy Award nomination for a supporting role, underlining her lasting impact on Hollywood.
