Mauritius Accused of Profiling After Denying Visa-on-Arrival to Nigerian Tourists
A Nigerian tourist says he was turned back at Mauritius’s Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport despite holding valid hotel and tour reservations. Slaifo Michael Jubril and several other Nigerian passengers had their visa-on-arrival applications rejected as “non bona-fide visitors.” Mauritius is listed among countries offering visa-on-arrival or eTA for Nigerian passport holders. Jubril provided proof of a fully paid hotel stay and pre-booked tours, only to be refused entry. He alleges the decision was based solely on the colour of their passports. The incident has reignited discussions about how Nigerian travellers are treated abroad and raised concerns over immigration profiling.
