Katsina Empowers 1,000 Couples with Pre-Marital Counselling Ahead of ‘Auren Gata’

Katsina Empowers 1,000 Couples with Pre-Marital Counselling Ahead of ‘Auren Gata’

The Katsina State Government joined forces with Al-Usra Marital Support Foundation to deliver intensive pre-marital counselling for 1,000 intending couples. The training took place across Daura, Funtua and Malumfashi zones as part of preparations for the state’s mass wedding event on April 25. Participants were screened by the Ministry of Women Affairs and underwent medical and genotype tests before joining the sessions. Couples received certificates upon completion, which qualify them for the ‘Auren Gata’ ceremony. Dr Murjanatu Ibrahim-Duwan highlighted that the programme focuses on family values, conflict resolution and Islamic guidance to reduce divorce rates. Officials also announced continued support and monitoring of the couples after the wedding day to ensure stable and successful marriages.
