Retired Immigration Comptrollers Demand Cars or N15m Each in Court Showdown
One hundred and seventy-six former comptrollers of the Nigeria Immigration Service have sued the Minister of Interior and other agencies at the National Industrial Court. They say the 2015 gazetted Conditions of Service entitles each retiring comptroller to an official car and five domestic staff. According to the suit, the defendants have ignored repeated reminders and refused to provide the benefits or their monetary equivalents. The retirees now ask the court to declare the denial unlawful and to order delivery of the cars or payment of N15 million each. Justice Rakiya Haastrup will hear the case on June 23.
