Surprise Omission: No Real Madrid Stars in Spain’s 2026 World Cup Squad

Spain’s coach Luis de la Fuente has named his 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup without a single Real Madrid player. Veteran right-back Dani Carvajal missed out after a season hampered by injuries, and young defender Dean Huijsen, as well as forwards Raúl Asencio and Gonzalo García, were also overlooked. The squad instead leans on Premier League talent, with Arsenal’s David Raya, Mikel Merino and Martín Zubimendi joined by Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, Tottenham’s Pedro Porro, Manchester City’s Rodri and Crystal Palace’s Yeremy Pino. La Roja will kick off their tournament on June 15 against Cabo Verde before facing Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
