Young Lawyer Dies of Cardiac Arrest Celebrating Ghana’s World Cup Victory
A 26-year-old lawyer collapsed and died from a suspected cardiac arrest while celebrating the Black Stars’ opening match win over Panama in the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 17. She was identified as Sara Araba Tettey, a recent law graduate from KNUST called to the Ghana Bar earlier this year. Eyewitnesses say she became unresponsive moments after the final whistle while watching the match with friends at a private hostel near the Kumasi campus. Friends rushed her to KNUST Hospital, where medical teams performed CPR for 45 minutes before she was pronounced dead. Colleagues describe her as intelligent, hardworking and compassionate. Her body remains at the hospital mortuary pending autopsy and funeral arrangements.
